Building and Pest Inspection Gold Coast Report found Termites?

In most Building and Pest Inspection Gold Coast jobs, we will find either active termites or evidence of past termite activity.

As scary as that sounds, your Building and Pest Inspection Gold Coast Report will give you the options available as a prospective buyer, and it’s not always a walk-away.

Our experience shows us that termite activity is widespread along the eastern seaboard, and many houses will have to deal with termites at some point during their lifetime.

As aggressive and damaging as some species of termites can be, the termites themselves are quite weak and fragile. They need a moist environment to survive, so termites build mud leads (mud tunnels) made up of saliva, soil and other material to travel around the house. This protects them from the elements and predators.

Active termites found

If active termites are found, the Termite Treatment may involve either:

  • Remedial treatment using direct chemical foaming or dusting to the termites
  • A termite baiting system that draws termites to each station and treats the colony

Both treatments can be effective, but which option is suitable will depend on the property type and access to the live termites.

Previous termite activity

If previous activity or Termite Damage is found, a Termite Barrier may be recommended to help protect the house from termites returning.

We also advise repairing damaged timbers and cleaning away all termite mud leads. The reason we recommend removing the old leads is that, if they remain around the house, they can provide termites with direct pathways back into parts of the property.

Termites are normally hidden from the naked eye, which is why our Building and Pest Inspection Gold Coast teams carry state-of-the-art equipment to assist with the investigation.

Termites eat timber from the inside out, so by the time you can see the damage, it may already be widespread.
